Looking Ahead
Goals & Objectives
- Conduct home ignition zone assessments per NFPA 1144
- Provide chainsaw use and safety education
- Coordinate volunteer efforts (high school, civic groups, HOAs, etc.) in support of mitigation efforts by others (PCFPD, Forest Guild, etc.)
- Bring in volunteer groups like Team Rubicon for larger mitigation efforts
- Seek funding for mitigation projects identified in the CWPP
- Sponsor frequent community wildfire education events
- Conduct best-practices workshops for Park County community leaders
- Provide model waivers (with disclaimers) for use by HOAs
- Advocate for wildfire-adapted building codes and LURs to the BOCC
- Coordinate with PCFPD, PCSD, Emergency Services, and Park County Communications to develop wildfire evacuation plans
- Sponsor Evacuation Route Mitigation
- Secure water rights for ponds used for fire suppression
- Coordinate with Park County Fire Protection Districts to communicate wildfire evacuation plans.
