Fire Adapted Park County is inviting you to join Got 5—a simple, secure way to build a small network of people you can count on before an emergency ever happens. We’ve made the roles for both volunteers and residents asking for assistance clear, so everyone knows exactly how the matching process works.

If you’re someone who needs assistance:

• You’ll receive a list of nearby volunteers who have already signed up to help a neighbor. Their locations are determined using trusted fire‑service data, so you only see volunteers who are realistically close enough to assist.
• You choose who to contact. You reach out directly—by phone, email, or in person—and decide whether you want to form a support relationship.
• Once you and a volunteer agree that volunteer becomes matched to you alone. They are no longer shown as being available to anyone else.
• You stay in control of your five. You can add more volunteers over time, keep the ones you trust, or make changes whenever you need to as volunteers closer to you are identified and communicated.
• Your personal information stays private. Your exact address is never shared with volunteers or other participants. You decide what information to share.

If you’re a volunteer offering assistance:

• Your offer to help will be shared with nearby residents who may need help, based on your location—not on neighborhood names.
• A resident may contact you to ask if you’re willing to be part of their five. You choose whether to accept.
• Once you agree to support someone, you are matched exclusively to that person. You will not be matched to anyone else unless you choose to make a change later.
• You control your availability. You can pause, opt out, or update your status at any time.
• Your personal information is protected. Only the residents you agree to support will receive the contact details you choose to share.

Got 5 – Fire Adapted

Wildfire risk is rising in Park County. Clearing brush, trees, and other fuels close to your home, called Home Ignition Zone (HIZ) mitigation, is one of the most effective ways to protect your house. Here’s what we’re proposing:

• FAPCo and the Park County Fire Protection Districts will apply for a grant that would cover 50% of the cost of eligible mitigation work on your property.

• You’d hire an approved contractor and pay them directly.

• Once the work is done and verified, you’d be reimbursed for half the cost.

• Grouping neighboring properties together lets contractors work efficiently and keeps costs down for everyone, which is why we’re asking about your neighborhood as well as your property.

Your answers help us gauge interest, check eligibility, and plan projects by area. Nothing here commits you to participating.

Platte Canyon Fire is working on a project which will improve coverage of their area as well as improve overall performance for VHF equipment from the Mt. Bailey site. Weather-permitting, work is expected to begin July 31, 2026. Please be advised of helicopter activity in the area.
